Timothy Ray Hebert, 50 years old, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 11:08 PM at Terrebonne General Medical Center of Brain Cancer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 9:00 AM until service time at First United Methodist Church. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Martha McCorkel Hebert, son, Jonathon and wife Andrea, daughters, Katie Hebert and Chrissy Hebert, grandchildren, Willow, Jack and Xander Hebert, parents, Norman Hebert and Shirley Marcel Hebert, sister, Terri Hebert and husband David, brother, Troy Hebert and wife Lisa, nieces, Stephanie, Kelly and Amanda Hebert, Kaitlyn Savage, nephews, Brandon and Alex Hebert, Trey Graham, Will Savage, Christopher and Wesley McCorkel, Noah and Gabe Wheat, parents in law, Clyde and Ann McCorkel, sisters in law, Susan Savage and husband John, Mariah Wheat and husband Kevin and brother in law, William "Bill" McCorkel.

Timothy was born in Houma on September 21, 1961, the eldest child of Norman Hebert and Shirley Marcel Hebert. He was married to Martha Ann McCorkel on January 7, 1984. After graduating from Terrebonne High School, Timothy attained a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University and a master's degree in business administration from Nicholls State University. After running a photography studio for a short time, Timothy became a teacher, eventually teaching at his alma mater, Terrebonne High. Timothy was very active in the First United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities on the state and local level, including historian, webservant, lay delegate to annual conference, Certified Lay Ministry chair, Lay Speaking Ministry director, chair of Commision on Archives and History, and lay delegate to Jurisdictional Conference. Other organizations to which Timothy belonged include the Terrebonne Historical Society and the Terrebonne Genealogical Society. He also authored several books on Acadian-Cajun history and genealogy.
